Overview & Challenge

Local businesses — from restaurants and retail shops to fitness studios and salons — had no unified way to reach nearby customers with timely promotions. Social media algorithms buried their posts, email marketing had declining open rates, and traditional advertising was expensive with no measurable ROI. Consumers, meanwhile, were drowning in fragmented apps and had no single place to discover what deals, events, and new offerings were available in their neighborhood.

Existing loyalty programs were siloed per business, requiring customers to carry multiple cards or download separate apps for each store. Engagement was poor because there was no network effect — each business operated in isolation. The challenge was to create a platform that aggregated local commerce into a single, location-aware experience that benefited both businesses and consumers, while making loyalty programs interoperable and easy to manage.

Solution

We built a geo-aware platform with two primary interfaces: a business dashboard and a consumer mobile app. The business dashboard enabled merchants to create and schedule promotions, events, and loyalty programs with rich media, targeting by radius, time-of-day, and customer segments. Businesses could track engagement, redemption rates, and customer analytics in real time.

The consumer mobile app, built with React Native, featured a location-based feed that surfaced nearby deals, events, and updates using Google Maps integration. Users could search, filter by category, save favorites, and receive push notifications via Firebase when new offers appeared nearby. Digital loyalty cards replaced physical punch cards — customers earned and redeemed rewards seamlessly. Real-time updates via WebSockets ensured the feed was always current. The platform included Stripe-powered payment processing for premium business subscriptions and promoted listings.
